Cannot change the rotation of a sub emitter

Hello.

I've got a directional particle system that, on death, is supposed to emit other particles in the opposite direction. The sub emitter is a c$$anonymous$$ld of the first system and is listed as the first system's sub emitter on "Death", but no matter how much I rotate it, it resumes emitting in the same direction as its parent. Do I need to manually rotate the emitter in the code every time it emits? T$$anonymous$$s seems silly.
