CombineMeshes and MeshFilter + MeshCollider

I'm trying to merge several all parented models into single mesh, including their simplified mesh colliders. However, doing so works only on the MeshFilters. Trying to apply the models' mesh colliders gives me an error. Also, using the actual models as meshes isn't plausible in this case, as the models have fairly high polycount.

 NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
 MergeWorld.Start () (at Assets/World/MergeWorld.cs:27)

Here's the whole code:

 using UnityEngine;
 using System.Collections;

 public class MergeWorld : MonoBehaviour {

     // Use this for initialization
     void Start () {
         MeshFilter[] MeshFilters = GetComponentsInChildren<MeshFilter>();
         MeshCollider[] MeshColliders = GetComponentsInChildren<MeshCollider>();

         CombineInstance[] CombineMesh = new CombineInstance[MeshFilters.Length];
         CombineInstance[] CombineColl = new CombineInstance[MeshColliders.Length];

         for (int i = 0; i < MeshFilters.Length; i++)
         {
             CombineMesh[i].mesh = MeshFilters[i].sharedMesh;
             CombineMesh[i].transform = MeshFilters[i].transform.localToWorldMatrix;

             CombineColl[i].mesh = MeshColliders[i].sharedMesh;
             CombineColl[i].transform = MeshColliders[i].transform.localToWorldMatrix;
         }

         transform.GetComponent<MeshFilter>().mesh.CombineMeshes(CombineMesh);
         transform.GetComponent<MeshFilter>().mesh.Optimize();

         transform.GetComponent<MeshCollider>().sharedMesh.CombineMeshes(CombineColl);

         transform.position = new Vector3(0,0,0);
         transform.localScale = new Vector3(1,1,1);

         this.gameObject.isStatic = true;

         foreach (Transform Child in this.transform)
         {
             GameObject.Destroy(Child.gameObject);
         }

     }
 }
