Altered Mecanim parameters reset the current state back to the default state.

I'm using Unity 5 Personal. When I test my scene, every time I change a boolean or activate a trigger, it goes all the way back to the default state (regardless of what state it was on before) and only transitions from the default state based on the current parameters. Everything was fine yesterday when I was testing them out. And now it also won't even show the current state being played in the animator window when testing the scene. Also, where did the atomic option go in Unity 5? Is there a replacement setting?
