Question by Tekniko · Mar 11, 2015 at 05:13 PM · unity 5android sdk

Android SDK Root Folder

Hello ladies, I am not sure if I am having a brain fart or if this is some sort of bug with U5. My issue is, every time I try to set the location for the root folder of the Android SDK, Unity refuses to accept it.

I have tried other internal folders with no luck. I have search the Forums and QnA sections here but the solutions offered did not help the situation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to run unity with ad$$anonymous$$istration rights? Unity has a problem of setting the path into the android SD$$anonymous$$ if the user has limited rights. One its set you run unity again with your limited right.

Unfortunately that did not work. The link you provided is giving that user an actual error message. I am simply being told to pick the directory again and again.

It needs to be the sdk folder within the installation directory; did you try that one? (edit: the name of the folder is "sdk", I realized my wording could be confusing given the nature of the question

tiger is right. Also, make sure you have run the SD$$anonymous$$$$anonymous$$anager.exe and actually installed some APIs and Build/Platform tools.

There is no SD$$anonymous$$ folder. I have already installed 5.0 and 5.1 tools. I will go and install all 4.0 and up as well. Hopefully that will create the proper directories.

Still a no go. I installed everything from the SD$$anonymous$$$$anonymous$$anager and no SD$$anonymous$$ folder has been created. I can't be the only one with this issue.

Where does your SD$$anonymous$$$$anonymous$$anager.exe file live? How have you been launching the manager? For what it's worth, my sdk folder is in the same directory as the SD$$anonymous$$$$anonymous$$anager executable; it's been a long time, though, so maybe things have changed? For example my sdk folder is G:\android\sdk and my executable lives at G:\android\SD$$anonymous$$$$anonymous$$anager.exe

$$anonymous$$ine still lives in my Eclipse folder. Never moved on...sigh

There is no actual EXE to be ran. When I open Android Studio there is an Options button. After I click that the SD$$anonymous$$ $$anonymous$$anager is listed there. When I run the SD$$anonymous$$ $$anonymous$$anager I get the typical install this, uninstall that, and so on.

In my Android folder there is no SD$$anonymous$$ folder or SD$$anonymous$$$$anonymous$$anager.exe. I am assu$$anonymous$$g I have some new update because the Android SD$$anonymous$$ was a lot different the last time I downloaded it 6 months ago.

Upon doing some more research, android.com is stating that the Eclipse with ADT is now obsolete...

Try using the standalone tools. I don't know anything about Android studio, but you should be able to install the SD$$anonymous$$ independently and get an SD$$anonymous$$$$anonymous$$anager executable; the sdk folder you seek will live next door.

I actually installed the standalone tools last night as well. Tried updating and installing some APIs with no luck.

I am pretty sure the issue is with Google upgrading to Android Studio and moving everything into one program. I think I'll wait until Unity is updated to support this change. In the mean time, testing AP$$anonymous$$s are not needed.

Well, I figured out the issue. Android Studio moved their SD$$anonymous$$ $$anonymous$$anager to a different directory. The actual directory for anyone with this issue, is: C:\Users\Stephen\AppData\Local\Android\sdk

Hope this helps someone.

Well, I figured out the issue. Android Studio moved their SDK Manager to a different directory. The actual directory for anyone with this issue, is: C:\Users\Stephen\AppData\Local\Android\sdk Replace Stephen with your username, of course.

Hope this helps someone.

@bryonss AppData is an invisible file. You need to go to control panel, tools tab, folder options, view tab, show hidden files folders and drives. Then you can find and assign it.
