Solution to weird shadows?

I am having this issue with shadows and lighting, any ideas? The models are really simple and have no open seams or anything so this shouldn't be happening. I can enable 2 sided shadows with the models but then if I want to do this or a mass scale, lets say 2000 trees, I am having to do this to each and every tree one at a time as 2 sided shading cannot be set globally as far as I can tell.

The other issue I am having is with terrain shadows looking like this in the scene view but not in game.

Also my terrain has collision but as soon as I make some hills my character controller just passes through the newly formed hills. No idea why. Can't fix it.

You should edit the FBX that you imported:

To fix the Collisions:

Click on the FBX Check its inspector:

Tick : Generate Colliders (if they don't show properly in the Scene, go to the Hierarchy, click on your model and tick "Convex")

To fix shadows and Lighmapping: Click on your FBX Tick : Generate Lightmap UVs.

This will import the UVs from the model and use it for shadow and lighting computation.

Is there any advice you could give me on getting better shadows in Unity because my shadows on most objects give them the feeling of floating as the shadows don't fully meet the surfaces of the objects in the scene.

I see that it worked for you! (y) (if you can please vote up and accept the answer).

As for your second problem, i see that it's working for the rocks in the background. So it got me thinking whether the trees are elevated. Just try to double check, and if it's not the case (they are touching the ground), we will try to fix it.
