orthographicSize wont lerp

Hi. I want to command my camera to zoom in upon the death of the character.

It will zoom but it does it instantly whereas I want it to do it smoothly over time (lerp).

Here's my code:

 GetComponent<Camera>().orthographicSize = Mathf.Lerp(6f,4f,5f);

The t parameter of the Lerp function is clamped between 0 and 1. You pass it a value of 5, which means that the maximum (5 being bigger than 1) is reached instantly. You need to gradually increase the t parameter yourself, for example by using Time.deltaTime. Check out this thread:

  float t = 0f;
  float speed = 5f;
  if (t < 1) {
      t += Time.deltaTime * speed; //This will increment t based on Time.deltaTime multiplied by a speed multiplier
      GetComponent<Camera>().orthographicSize = Mathf.Lerp(6f,4f,t);
  }
