Question by Shuher · Apr 13, 2015 at 05:19 AM · javascriptinstantiation

set script variable in instantiated object(JS)

hello there :) dotVars script attached to object i want to clone. and every time new object created, i need to add +1 to dotVars.dotNum. so each object will get own number.

 var newDot : GameObject = Instantiate(dotVars.dot, Vector3(dotVars.dotPos.x, 1, dotVars.dotPos.z), Quaternion.Euler(270, 0, 0));
 newDot.GetComponent(dotVars).dotNum++;

all created instances has same dotNum, which equals to greatest dotNum.

help, please.

Where exactly is your issue?

when my dots instantiates, i need to assign sequence number to each of them. for example: i click and drag mouse. in that time spawns first dot with mouse(x,y), and set to its var to 1, then spawns second dot and sets 2 and so on. the problem in my code is that each dot gets not its own number, but latest. that is mean, if there is 5 dots, then all of dots gets "5".

Some more questions: Are the dotNums static variables?

How does the whole script look?

Is there only one line of object creation? Will many different object make news, or will only one make another which will make another and so on?
