Question by tutiplain1 · May 10, 2015 at 12:50 PM · background2d sprites

Proper way to make 2d backgrounds

I have an image I want to use as background for my game (it's a 2d game). The image has, of course, a set resolution, but I am scaling it to fit into my camera. I thought that when I ran the game, that the image would scale to fit the screen, and when in Editor mode, it does, but when I run on iOS simulator, the image appears as a blank square in the middle of the screen. The image is added to the Scene as an UI Image, inside a Canvas UI GameObject. The image asset has its Texture Type set to Sprite (2D and UI). The image is in PNG format. What setting should I use to make the image scale to my screen size?

The blank white square appears when the image is not found. Do you have your image in the Resources folder?

The image is in Assets/Resources/Art/background.atlas/. Are you saying it needs to go on Assets/Resources?

No should work then.. Try rena$$anonymous$$g the path "background.atlas" to maybe "background_atlas". Not sure though.

try drag and dropping the image in unity in the folder of your choice. $$anonymous$$aybe it will work like that. Also check the import options maybe something is bad there (check image through inspector to do that).
