Question by DizzyTornado · May 12, 2015 at 06:09 AM · alphatreevegetation

Weird white spots on vegetation/trees?

I have only found one similar question and their fix didn't work for me so I will post a new question. So basically there are random w$$anonymous$$te spots on the textures of the bushes. I have tried setting alpha cutoff to zero. When I did that, it worked for 5~ mins, and then it reverted back to how it was before, with the w$$anonymous$$te spots even though alpha cutoff was still at 1.

Your picture shows the scene view. The game view is the important one.

The scene view does not reflect the actual game since Unity tends to lower the rendering quality so that the whole thing can run. For instance, if you get to a large distance, the terrain is render with less defined shapes giving the impression the quality is low. But as you get closer you realise that it is as detailed as expected.

So try the game and see if it does the same because it could be that it goes just fine.

Looks to me like some odd specular issues. I would check the shader code to make sure your textures are meeting the required specs and parameters.

Its the same in in-game view. I tried checking the shader code but since I'm a level designer I didn't really understand any of it.

Fairly sure t$$anonymous$$s was fixed with recent Unity update, or fixed by using a proper terrain shader. If you have instances of t$$anonymous$$s now, please update.
