Question by Unityaware · May 16, 2015 at 06:06 PM · incompatable

How do I get Unity 4.6 back?

I tried to launch an old project done in Unity 4.6 but it will automatically open in Unity 5. I don't want that, because of framerate issues and other things. When I try to run Unity 4.6 I get the message "Your project was created with an incompatable version of Unity..." and it won't allow me to launch Unity 4.6. How do I get around this?

Does anybody know how to launch Unity 4.6 without it wanting me to lauch an old project which has been converted into Unity 5 format?

If you want to break out of the auto-opening to select another project to open in 4.6, hold down ALT as you start Unity.

I'm pretty sure that if the project has been converted to Unity 5, you will not be able to open it in 4.6; you will need to restore a backup of the file before you upgraded.

This happened to me too.

You can download the older version again here: http://unity3d.com/get-unity/download/archive

Where did it go? You can have different versions of Unity installed side-by-side without any problems (certainly in Windows). Just put them in different install locations and give them separate launch icons in your start menu.
