How to set up joints so it creates a spring board

I've been playing around with joints, but I can't find a tutorial for creating a spring joint for an object so it acts like a spring board.

The spring joint seems to elongate like a spring under gravity but I'm looking for a joint setup that would create the kind of spring that you get on a spring board (90 degree flipper).

Any tutorial links?
