Boat wake/foam

Does anyone know how to make a boat wake/foam on a water mesh. My water mesh is not flat and has animated waves. Is there any way I can get my boat to leave a trail behind it on the water (preferably a texture, not particles).

I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

i would say there are probably three main ways of doing this.

  1. particle system (simple to do but doesn't look great)

  2. decal texturing (only be on the surface)

  3. interacting with the water physics (creates a "wake" but not foa$$anonymous$$g)

i suggest that you combine some of these together. the particles are simple to do and the phisics thing can be found here:link text however im not sure how to create a decal mechanic.
