Communicate with Android native plugin

Hi! There are other ways to communicate from Java code of a native plugin to Unity C# code? I'm talking about this java call:

 UnityPlayer.UnitySendMessage("gameObject", "methodName", message);

Just wondering if there are others way to do it, and if so which are the best? Thanks.
