Jitter on Follow Cam

I'm having an issue where anytime the target moves forward, the camera jitters up and down. I've tried a number of things but can't seem to make it smooth. It is smooth on the z/x axes. It may be worth noting the following:

  1. When I do not articially set camPos.y = height, the camera falls to 0 as the target moves forward

  2. The target is a ball whose rotation is turning as force is applied.

I think it is likely due to the camera falling that I'm getting the jitter issues, though. Any help on the matter is greatly appreciated!

.

Code:

public class LookAtCamera : MonoBehaviour {

 public GameObject target;
 public int dist = 10;
 public float height;
 private Vector3 camPos;

 void Start () {
     transform.LookAt(target.transform.position);
 }

 void Update () {

     transform.LookAt (target.transform.position);

     camPos = target.transform.position - (transform.forward * dist);
     camPos.y = height;
     transform.position = Vector3.Lerp(transform.position,camPos,Time.deltaTime*50);
     }

}

EDIT:

I have fixed this issue by changing "Update" to "FixedUpdate"
