Question by Kinth · Jun 18, 2015 at 07:06 PM · graphics

Is there anyway around Pointlight Bias settings not working?

The Point light shadow bias problem has been a problem for a long time. It has been on the issue tracker for over 2 years and there has yet to even be a response to it.

http://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/shadow-bias-broken-for-point-lights Feel free to vote for it, hopefully it will get more visibility.

Does anyone know of anyway to get the point light shadow bias settings to work or of any other lighting solutions that allow them to work. All my objects appear as if they are floating above the ground due to the shadow bias, which makes using point light in my project fairly useless.

We're getting the same problem at the moment. We've tried a bunch of ways to fake shadows but it doesn't work satisfactorily.

Did you get any further with it? Have you tried the forums? Oh and we up voted ;-)

Never did I'm afraid. Seems the only way around it is to write your own lighting engine. The Unity devs have pretty much ignored the issue for nearly 3 years now.

sheesh! I think there a more than a few issues with the current lighting system. For a start and from what I've read there's still trouble with mixed lighting and real time indirect bounce. I know from the QA folks and road map that there is a fix on the way for these so hopefully its on there radar.
