Muzzle Flash For FPS

I have a problem where i want to make a particle play once then dissapear when the mouse is down any help on how i could do this???

 function Start () {
     particle = particle.GetComponent.<ParticleEmitter>();
     AmmoLeft = AmmoInMag;
     ReloadTTime = ReloadTime;
     AimCode = gameObject.GetComponent(Aim);
     particle.emit = false;
 }

     if(IsFullAuto == false){
         if(Input.GetButtonDown("Fire1")){
             if (AmmoLeft > 0){
                 BroadcastMessage("FireAnim");
                 Fire();
                 particle.emit = true;
             }
         }
     }

Any reason why you are using ParticleEmitter ins$$anonymous$$d of ParticleSystem? I'm just asking because I believe PE is deprecated and I could help you with the PS functionality.
