how do i seperate action of mousedown for each object?

im novice in learning, so lets say hypothetically i have a row of cubes, i want to be able to press each one individually to start an animation. instead doing this:

 void OnMouseDown(){
     GetComponent<Animation>().Play();
     
 }

this cuases every cube to animate the moment i press the mouse button down, anywhere. doesnt matter if i click the cube or not. i know theres a "foreach" but i cant seem to figure out how to use it properly or if it even is what im looking for. im also assuming that transform.position will play a part in this too. but im hoping someone can help me out.

The On$$anonymous$$ouseDown documentation disagrees with you.
Something else is causing the behavior you're observing. Create an empty scene. Add two cubes with different names. Create a single script with an On$$anonymous$$ouseDown method that prints the gameobject.name. Add that script to both cubes. Play and test.
