Fading a Texture upon Trigger

Hello, I'm fairly new to Unity, first time turning to the community for help. Not looking for anyone to do my work for me, just to be pointed in the right direction.

I'm making an isometric game, and I need the top of my level environment (in this case, a house's roof) to fade when the player enters.

The way I'm going about it right now is to have a texture on the roof that will be trigger by a box collider upon player entry.

Thing is, none of it seems to be working. Am I on the right path here, or am I simply making a placement error?

Currently I have the Roof and the House proper as two seperate objects, both placed under an empty game object. The collider is attached to the roof, and then modified to surround the entire house. I've written a bit of test code to trigger upon entry, but that doesn't seem to be working.

Any help is appreciated!

In the screenshot you have messages output disabled (the exclamation icon) in console window. For sure you are not seeing the Debug.Log() output. Are you sure is not working?

You mention an issue with fading a texture upon trigger. Is this the main problem, or are you having general collision issues?

If you want your player to be able to trigger a collision, make sure he has:

  • Collider

  • Rigidbody

Good luck with your game!
